Default sharepoint databases and relationships

Greetings all,

Recently we had to move the locations of the MOSS databases from one volume on the SQL Server to another volume. This turned into the nightmare to beat all nightmares. Thinking this was simply a database issue, we performed the same task we had done countless times before yet somehow managed to break MOSS.

Has anyone had to do this and was your move seamless or did you also run into peculiar behavior? I'm not looking for links to the steps to take. I'm looking for first hand experience with the task.

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. We FINALLY got everything stabilized. I'm just wondering what went so disastrously wrong.

Default Migrating Content Databases

I have moved my content database to a new server/drive before and it will mess up SharePoint unless you know how to prepare for the move.

Here is a link that I use to remind myself of the steps.
