Unhappy List Item Sort Order Not Working

I migrated a Portal Site from Sharepoint 2003 to 2007 using SharePoint 2003 to MOSS 2007 Upgrade: Database migration « farhanfaiz’s Weblog – SharePoint / MOSS as a guide.

We have one remaining known issue. When we create a new list item or edit an existing Item, the field list does not appear in the sort order we have selected at List Settings - Column Ordering.

Smile Sort Order Solution

Don't know why this worked. We went to this option in order to change some columns to hidden. (See http://nickgrattan.wordpress.com/2008/12/02/changing-order-hiding-columns-in-new-edit-forms/ if interested in hiding columns)
  1. Open the list and select Settings + List Settings
  2. Select Advanced settings
  3. Click Yes for “Allow management of content types” and then click OK.
Now the sort order works.

Default List item Sort

I think you only can do that when item contains link, otherwise, you can not do that.
Just for your Information
