SharePoint Services Query

There is a Microsoft download [Sharepoint Services 3.0] It is not the SharePoint Server but offers SharePoint "services". Although the documentation states that this is intended for Windows Server there are ample articles stating that this will work on a Vista machine without 'official' Microsoft Support.
Cannot find information on specifically what features would be realized with sharepoint services and so I post in several places to inquire.
In MS Office 2007 there is a "meeting workspace" feature that I would like to use. There is information within this feature stating that "sharepoint" is involved. How can I leverage Vista, Office 2007 and the Sharepoint to facilitate real time meetings with others online.
